’Tis the season for random acts of kindness (not that you can’t do nice things for people all year): from the so-called layaway angels that will no doubt pop-up at retail stores to the coffee drinkers who will pay it forward. A man in Texas recently got the ball rolling on the 2016 season by handing out money at a McDonald’s.
CBS DFW reports that a regular customer of a Fort Worth McDonald’s handed out $100 bills to unsuspecting workers, asking for nothing in return.
The incident, which was caught on the store’s security cameras, shows the man walking up to employees and handing them cash.
At one point, a cashier can be heard declaring “Oh my God,” after receiving a bill.
An employee of the man — who does not want recognition for his good deed — tells CBS DFW that the act was the result of several factors: he had recently been diagnosed with cancer and had witnessed a fellow customer fall on hard times.
“You could tell it blessed their day,” the man’s employee says. “They didn’t come in there [to work] thinking that was going to happen that day… and that was the best part about it.”
In all, CBS DFW reports that the man left enough cash for all 33 employees at the restaurant, even for those who were not working at the time.
Staff at the restaurant are putting together a thank you card for the man.
