How do you feel about Christmas music? How do you feel about listening to Christmas music every day for 17 hours? Some New York City neighbors are battling over a holiday display featuring some cute singing animatronic deer, which one resident finds loud and excessive.
Sure, the parties involved are a townhouse-dwelling lawyer and the billionaire couple who live across the street, but the core dispute is the same one that neighbors all over the world have over holiday decorations. The lawyer is tired of blaring Christmas music and wants an injunction that would make the music stop.
Claiming that the music is only turned off between midnight and seven in the morning, the lawyer would like it to be turned off for the rest of the day, too.
“I like a Christmas song on Christmas Day,” he told the New York Post. “But I’m tired of hearing ‘Jingle Bells’ like 700 or 800 times a day.” Millions of retail employees feel the same way, but at least the music doesn’t follow them home.
The content of this neighbor’s holiday displays has caused problems before: a few years ago, her Halloween display that included a dead baby was not universally appreciated. This is the first time someone has objected to musical accompaniment, though.
